About Us
HISTORY -
Dreams Are Free began in 1994 as an inclusion program at 12 local
Catholic schools. We also operated as a learning lab program until 2001
when the new school opened on the Bishop Nevins campus at the corner of
Fruitville and McIntosh Roads in Sarasota.
ADMISSIONS -
Students are admitted based upon test scores, individualized
education plan and specific learning problems. Dreams Are Free is an
outreach program of the Catholic Diocese of Venice but all learning disabled
children are encouraged to attend Dreams Are Free, regardless of their
faith.
CURRICULUM -
Nationally recognized and supports Sunshine State standards.
Dreams Are Free is an affiliate member of the Florida Catholic Conference.
Located next to St. Martha School, this proximity allows our students to be
involved in computer labs and library. If
appropriate, our students attend math, social studies and science
classes at St. Martha School. This partnership provides our students with a
small, individualized environment, giving each student the opportunity to
experience a larger school setting. We also work with the public and
private schools in the area to ensure that our students make a smooth
transition into and out of Dreams Are Free.
